Kurt Geisler is an artist and photographer interested in the shape of things.
Much of his work focuses on exploring the architecture of trees and plants. By visually isolating individual specimens, he pays homage to botanical illustrations of the past, yet delivers a modern and unique vision of plants as living sculpture. His ongoing series, Desert Flora, has been honored with inclusion in the 2016 Communication Arts Photography Annual.
He first started printing as a teen in his family's home darkroom and was shooting with a view camera by his early 20's. Before embarking on a career as an award-winning Art Director on Madison Avenue he worked as an illustrator, carpenter, welder and fabricator as well as a sculptor's assistant to renowned artist Mark DiSuvero
He moved to New York City in 1996 and continues to reside in the area.
